Jonathan Manalo

Witness Summary:

His wife is Jeannee Manalo (W12). He said he didn’t see the actual incident. He went outside after the shooting. George Zimmerman was out of breath and “acting like he had just gotten his butt beat.” He asked Zimmerman if he needed him to call 911. He states he called Zimmerman’s wife while he was being cuffed and explained what was happening. Zimmerman blurted out, “Just tell her that I shot someone.” He says Zimmerman was very matter of fact–like it wasn’t a big deal.

Question ? Who was George on the phone with he never mention being on the phone in his reenactment or any statements he made .

The interview wrapped up so quickly after the witness showed the pictures that he’d taken.  The investigator was stopped at the start of his next question.  Terrible investigating, just terrible!

March 20 Interview: And, really? He wouldn’t look when there was an argument or call 911 at any point but he comes out immediately after a gun shot??? I definitely would not come out after hearing a gun shot.

Re March 20 interview – The witness said he didn’t know the guy, never seen or spoke to him before but before that GZ told him to call his wife and he knew who his wife was and the number?

I wonder if the state will use his pictures. It seems he was there before CSI.

La Rionda does make an error in the recording on the 26th…

the witness is saying George is impatient..because the witness is explaining to his wife, but George wanted him to get to the point and blurted out he just shot someone.

La Rionda inserts something about “no big deal’…which is not exactly what the witness originally said here…(it’s possible he said that elsewhere, but not here).
But, the witness agrees with La Rionda about the no big deal stuff anyway….

he made a mention of bloody face blood on bk of head and grass stains on back /funny how he had no grass stains /or blood on hes face in police photos and it is lack of this blood n grass that has every1 doubtin gz story seems 2 me some1 put words in witneeses head and also if u have just shot and killed a young boy the last thing u would worry about is asking am i bleeding this just makes me wonder if gz as caused the injurys 2 himself 2 make it look like its self defense hope they pick up on this in court.and find him guilty of cold bloodied murder

Didn’t he look pretty “cool” in the police station? He looked like he was hanging out with his friends.

How come I can not view or hear anything?

You should see audio players on this page, which will allow you to listen to the files.  Try using a different browser.

seems to me he shot him because he was losing the fight.

I think he shot Trayvon because he had viciously attacked the boy and threatened him with his gun. He certainly did not want the police to hear that.

  • Ladyloree621

So he took three photos, gz back of head, TM dead body, and flashlight. I guess he is waiting for the highest bidder.

Took them off his phone but copied the photos to his computer.

“Sounded like a dog barking. Could not hear anything recognizable at first. Towards the end I heard help”

Seems to confirm George’s early screams for help were muffled.

“matter of fact–like it wasn’t a big deal” where the investigators words, not the witnesses.
Bernie de la Rionda has a nasty habit of leading witnesses and putting words in their mouths that he wants to hear.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000719183647 Lisa Anderson Simon

      Or Trayvon’s were muffled…

  • Ladyloree621

he only comes that conclusion it was self defense because george told him that. The witness didn t know he was following him in his car then on foot then confronted him. He didnt tell this guy everything of what GZ did before  the fight broke out.

Love the leading questions.. what a crock this prosecution is.

  • Questions for Thought

At the end of the tape with FDLE, he says “by the time I got out there, he was already up on his feet.”  How did he know that both Martin and Zimmerman were on the ground during the fight?  Also, he had told his wife to get away from the window, but goes outside after hearing a shot with a flash light.  Why would he do that and confront the shooter?  Brave soul!!  One other question:  Why take photos of George Zimmerman and do absolutely nothing to try to see if Trayvon was still alive and attempt to help him?

  • Ladyloree621

Good Questions!  I have found that while everyone was calling 911 almost all of the callers went upstairs for safety. Now I believe that is true to some extent, but I think they went up to get a better view. Also, everyone came out after the shot, not while the helps were being screamed.  We all want to see whats going on, but won’t engage while someone is in need of help until after we hear a gunshot. Human behavior? Hmmmm.

Did Zimmerman give him the phone number or his phone?…. this guy is weird… i dont know what is deal is

Is 2 minutes and 35 seconds any kind of record for the shortest interview ever with a first witness on the scene to a possible homicide? That interview, just over a hour after the incident, was the point where any investigator deserving of the description would be trying to establish as many details as possible, not going off on a total derail and asking the witness what colour the person he came upon was. There was no need for this question as Zimmerman wasn’t denying what he’d done. His question should have been “Where EXACTLY did you see him when you rounded the corner?” Any response other than “The person I saw was straddling the person who’d been shot and immediately he started asking me to help restrain the man he was sat atop. I told him I’d phone the police and he said that he’d already called them and could I phone his wife instead.”

Any response other than that means Z is lying AGAIN, only this time about a moment that should have been etched in his brain if it had happened like he’d depicted. That this witness then goes on to say in his slightly longer, but equally incompetent later interview, that Z appeared to be on the phone when he rounded the corner, and was walking in his direction up the footpath, means the testimony Z gave about what happened after the shooting was as a big a bunch of lies as the testimony he’d given regarding the events prior to the fight.

So, with his car being circled by Trayvon after he’d supposedly followed him from the clubhouse, we have him caught in a lie minutes before the confrontation, and with his account of the minute or two after he shot Trayvon, he is proved as a liar either side of the events he is supposedly giving a honest account of.
